- A published App on App Store and/or Google Play for native apps or PWA & HTML5 only using Open Custom Link.
- If you use Open Store Page or Open Store Link, your app's store links must be filled in under Settings > Share Settings (iOS URL and Android URL)
- Show In-App Rating option might require a new build of your app; saving an action with this option marks your app for a hard build the next time you publish
- Add an action to any item that supports actions (for example a button, a link)
- In the Add Action/Link window, select Rate App from the list on the left
- Under On Mobile App, choose what happens in your iOS and Android app:
- Show In-App Rating: shows the Apple or Google rating dialog without leaving the app
- Open Store Page: opens your app's review page in the App Store or Google Play
- Under From Web (PWA & HTML5), choose what happens when your app is opened in a browser:
- Open Store Link: opens your app's store page, matching the user's device
- Open Custom Link: opens a URL you enter, such as a feedback form
- If you chose Open Custom Link, enter the URL
- Check the Store Page Links box: it shows the App Store and Google Play links the action will use. If a link shows Not set, click at Share Settings link and add it
- Enter the Action Button Text and, optionally, choose an icon
- Click Save

Notes:
- Publish a new build after adding your first In-App Rating action, so the rating dialog can appear in your app
- On iPhone browsers, Safari may ask the user to confirm before leaving your app. They'll see a page saying your app would like to open the store, with Open Link and Take me back
Disclaimer: Apple and Google decide whether the in-app rating dialog appears, not your app. It isn't guaranteed to show every time it's tapped.
- Apple shows it at most 3 times a year per user, and users can turn it off in their iPhone settings
- Google applies its own limit and doesn't publish it; if a user taps again soon after, nothing may appear
- Neither Apple nor Google tells your app whether the dialog appeared, or whether the user left a rating
- Users who already rated your app may not see it again
Because a later tap may do nothing, use Open Store Page for actions users can tap at any time, such as a "Rate this app" link in a settings screen.
How to test your Rate App actionOpen Store Page, Open Store Link and Open Custom Link can be tested on any version of your app, at any time.
Show In-App Rating only appears in some versions of your app:
|
Where the app was installed from |
Does the rating dialog appear? |
|
App Store (live app) |
Yes, within Apple's limits |
|
TestFlight |
No. Apple blocks it in TestFlight, so nothing happens when it's tapped |
|
Google Play (live app) |
Yes, within Google's limits |
|
Google Play internal app sharing |
Yes, every time; this is the best way to test on Android. Ratings sent from it aren't posted publicly |
|
Google Play internal testing |
Sometimes; Google's limits apply, so it may appear once and then stop |
If the dialog doesn't appear while testing, it doesn't mean the action is broken. Try it on the live store version of your app.
Pro tips- Ask for a rating after a positive moment, such as a completed purchase, a finished lesson, or a saved goal, rather than when the app opens
- Publish a new build after adding your first In-App Rating action, or your existing app keeps using the web option
- Keep your store links in Settings > Share Settings up to date, and check the Store Page Links box shows both before saving
