How to trigger a push notification using Zapier
Use Zapier to send push notifications to your app when a form is submitted or an action happens in another tool.
Requirements
This Zapier integration is only available on the Growth and Scale plans.
You must request a Zapier API key from Support before getting started.
You must accept the Support invite before Buildfire appears as an available action in Zapier.
You will need a Zapier account and a source application such as Typeform, Google Sheets, or HubSpot.
How to Trigger a Push Notification Using Zapier- In Zapier, click + Create Zap
- Select your trigger app (for example, Google Sheets, Typeform, or HubSpot)
- Choose the event that will trigger the notification (for example, New Row or New Submission)
- Click Continue and connect your trigger app account
- Configure the trigger and test the connection
- For the Action, search for Buildfire
- Select Schedule Push Notification as the action event
- Under Account, click Select
- Click Connect a new account
- Enter the API key provided by Support
- Click Continue
- Configure the notification fields
- Required:
- Title
- Message
- You can manually enter values or map data from the trigger app
- You can also configure:
- Action Item
- In-App Message
- Group IDs
- User IDs
- User Tags
- Required:
5. Enter at least one Group ID, User ID, or User Tag

- Notifications will not be sent if all three fields are left blank

Test your Zap and turn it on
- Verify the notification is configured correctly before enabling the Zap
- Note: To use an Action Item, configure the action in any action item builder in the Control Panel, then click Copy Snippet and paste the snippet into the Action Item field in Zapier. To use an In-App Message, create your message content and paste it into the In-App Message field in Zapier.
- To send notifications to all registered users, use the $$registered user tag.
- To find a Group ID:
- Open Push Notifications from the left menu.
- Click the Groups tab.
- Locate the Group ID for an existing group.
- To find a User ID:
- Open Users from the left menu.
- Click the User Management tab.
- Select a user.
- Locate the User ID under User Information.
- Action Items can perform actions such as opening a screen, opening a link, starting a chat, calling a phone number, and other supported app actions.
- In-App Messages display rich content inside the app when users interact with the notification.

- If notifications are not sending, verify that the API key is valid.
- Confirm that at least one Group ID, User ID, or User Tag has been provided.
- If you receive a 401 error, generate a new API key and reconnect the Zapier account.
